Massage Therapy Information for Receiving a Massage at the Crystal Mountain Clinic PDF Print E-mail
Here’s some massage therapy information for what it’s like when you receive a massage at the Crystal Mountain Clinic. You will be in a lovely private room with the door closed. First, your therapist will request any massage therapy information you’d like to provide, by asking you what you’d like him or her to work on today. Then your therapist will leave the room while you undress to your level of comfort and lie on the massage table, completely covered by a sheet. You will remain covered by a sheet at all times, except for the area of your body that your therapist is working on at any moment. Once you are ready for your treatment to begin, your therapist will enter the room and apply massage oil or cream to help their hands move over your body, typically in gliding, kneading, rubbing, and compression strokes.

As you gather massage therapy information to make a choice of where to receive service, know that massages at Crystal Mountain are therapeutic in nature, and can utilize many different techniques. Most massages last for one hour although you can also schedule a two-hour massage if you’d like. Your massage includes time for your therapist to meet with you to find out your needs, for you to undress, and for the therapist to work on you. Once the massage is over your therapist may give you follow-up massage therapy information on stretches or exercises to help keep you feeling loose and relaxed.

Massage Therapy Information About How to Choose a Therapist at Crystal Mountain Clinic

Here’s some massage therapy information about the three different options for treatment that are available in our clinic, at different pricing levels:

Student Interns: Students who are completing their certification program are wonderful if you’d like a basic relaxation massage with some attention to muscle tension and stress.

Graduates: If you’d like to work with someone who has more advanced technique, the graduates are more appropriate because they have completed all their training, are licensed, and have passed the National Certification Exam.

Professionals: If you’re coming in for relief from a specific injury or a chronic condition, our professionals would be a good choice. They are Crystal Mountain instructors who have at least five years of experience as massage therapists, have participated in extensive continuing education, and are trained in specific methods for dealing with injuries, illnesses, or chronic stress conditions.

Massage Therapy Information About How to Get the Most Out of Your Massage

Here is additional massage therapy information to help you get the most out of your massage experience:

  • Schedule a time when you don’t have to rush right off to another appointment, or to be somewhere afterwards with your hair and clothes perfectly styled. Your hair may get mussed during your massage.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting a little oil or massage lotion on when you dress after your appointment.

  • If this is your first massage at Crystal Mountain, please arrive ten to fifteen minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out a brief medical history form so that we have that information available to the therapist when they meet with you. If you have been to our clinic before, plan to get to the clinic five minutes early even with traffic. The extra time will allow you to arrive more relaxed, and to go to the bathroom and get settled.

  • Before your massage, be candid with your therapist providing any massage therapy information about how your body is feeling, any concerns or sensitivities you have, and what you’d like to get out of the massage.

  • During your massage, provide any massage therapy information to your therapist about whether you’d like more or less pressure in a particular area, or if anything you are experiencing feels painful.

  • Once your massage is over, take a little time for yourself instead of rushing off to another appointment. If possible, do something relaxing and quiet for a while. You may be sleepy or a little spacey right after your massage. If so, eating some protein, drinking water, and lying down or taking a nap can be helpful.

  • During the day following your massage, drink extra water to allow any toxins that have been released in your body to be flushed out of your system.
  •
